"Woodbridge's Rudiments of Geography, on a New Plan, Designed to Assist the Memory by Comparison and Classification; with Numerous Engravings of Manners, Customs, and Curiosities. Accompanied with an Atlas, Exhibiting the Prevailing Religions, Forms of Government, Degrees of Civilization, and the Comparative Size of Towns, Rivers, and Mountains" by William C. Woodbridge published in New York by J. Olney in 1830, is an early American geography textbook designed to make the study of geography easier through comparison and classification. The work includes numerous engravings illustrating the manners, customs, and curiosities of different peoples and places.

The accompanying atlas was designed to present geographical information visually, including prevailing religions, forms of government, degrees of civilization, and comparative sizes of towns, rivers, and mountains.

This compact 16mo volume (approximately 3.5" x 6") is bound in half dark brown leather with stiff paper boards, with a duplicate title printed on the front cover and gilt decoration on the spine. An interesting example of early 19th-century American geographical education and the development of visual methods for teaching world geography.
