8vo.(6.25" x 9")1905-1914. Students of Hood College. Frederick, Maryland. Green/tan paper wraps, printed in navy with title/date/college/place, all stapled except for the 2 issues from 1914. Mostly clean and very good, some with slight stains. Looking through each I see that two have dampstains, a few have bent or dog-eared pages and/or wraps, but all complete. The 33 issues comprise 1905 (2), 1906 (4), 1907 (2), 1908 (4), 1909 (4, w/ 2 copies of April), 1910 (4), 1911 (8), 1912 (3), and 1914 (2). Or, a select group of 33 periodicals from Vol. X issue 1 (October 1905) to Vol. XVIII issue 7 (April 1914). Started in February of 1897, it was for the longest time, the only literary publication form Hood College. Each issue is approx 32 pp. and features recurring articles such as: College News, Heard In The Corridor, Notes of Interest, On the Bookshelf, Exchanges, Alumnae Note, From the Theme Box, Student Government, and more... A literary 'magazine', it has articles and/or book reviews for Kate Wiggins, Emerson, Keats, Hawthorne, Tennyson, Irving, Shelley, Wordsworth, along with others. There are also Biographies, Poetry, Book Reviews, and student created works. The Lesbian Herald was published on the 15th of each month, from October to June. Pagination is continuous through each Vol. A bonus would be the 6-8 pages of local advertisements from the Frederick/Baltimore area businesses.
