Spine with four gilt decorated raised bands, gilt lettering to black leather in second compartment, bands bordered with gilt and blindstamp rule. All edges marbled, marbled endpapers. Edgewear, corners bumped and rubbed, some through to board. Cloth fraying to fore-edge and foot of upper board, head and foot of spine chipped with minor loss. Extremities scuffed and rubbed. 3/4" split to head of upper board at hinge. Covers soiled. First free endpaper laid in, pencil and red pen to first free flyleaf. Pages toned, finger smudges to some fore-edges, spots of foxing . Pages 643-654 separating from spine, standing out from fore-edge.
