Very minor edgewear, some corners slightly bumped, impressions on leather boards (see pic). Title pages in black and red. Limited first edition of this profusely illustrated, monumental survey of horse racing, number 144 of only 475 sets published, with two original signed etchings, one by Alick P.F. Ritchie as the frontispiece in Volume I, the other by Charles Simpson as the frontispiece of Volume II, illustrated with over 226 superb plates (see pic).
