8vo.(5.25" x 8") viii + 464 pp. Full purple pebbled cloth with ornate gilt rule and corners framing upper board, rear in blind. Sun-faded spine with gilt lettering and decoration. All edges gilt, dark green endpapers. Edgewear, corners bumped and rubbed, head and foot of spine ruffled with tiny closed tears. Minimal foxing, mostly to front and rear few leaves. Five line presentation of school prize neatly in old ink to verso of first free endpaper, with bookseller notes in pencil below. Some small pencil marks of notation found throughout text. Illustrated with 8 hand-colored floral plates by James Andrews. A really nice looking book with wonderful plates.
