"Throne of the Gods: An Account of the First Swiss Expedition to the Himalayas" by Arnold Heim and August Gansser, published in New York by the Macmillan Company in 1939. This account documents the pioneering Swiss expedition to the Himalayas and includes valuable cartographic and panoramic material.

Quarto (6.25" x 9.5"), in full dark green publisher's cloth with a gilt top edge. The spine features gilt lettering for the title, authors, and publisher. The spine has faded to a medium green, contrasting with the blue-green covers, and shows fading and small tears at the crown and foot. The book is protected by a Brodart cover.

A previous owner's inscription appears on the front pastedown. Particularly notable are the foldout panoramic sketches of the Himalayas at the end of the book and a foldout map of the Central Himalayas, housed in a compartment attached to the rear pastedown. An appealing illustrated expedition account for collectors of Himalayan exploration, mountaineering, cartography, and early 20th-century adventure literature.
