New Remedies, and Illustrated Monthly Trade Journal of Materia Medica, Pharmacy and Therapeutics, Vol. VII by Fred'k A. Castle and Charles Rice (Eds.)

"New Remedies, and Illustrated Monthly Trade Journal of Materia Medica, Pharmacy and Therapeutics," Vol. VII, edited by Fred'k A. Castle and Charles Rice, is a substantial 19th-century volume documenting the world of materia medica, pharmacy, therapeutics, and the pharmaceutical trade. This volume brings together twelve monthly issues from January through December 1879, with a 14-page index for the consecutively numbered issue pages, along with twelve 8-page monthly price lists for the “New York Drug Market,” bound as pink sheets at the end of the index. The volume contains many in-text illustrations, as well as two colored hemisphere maps bound at the end of the September issue.

4to. (6.785" x 9.875"), 686, (96) pp. 1878, New York: William Wood & Company: Rebacked in dark green leather over the original marbled boards. Boards show edgewear, with corners and board edges rubbed through to the boards and scuffed and rubbed in places. Endpapers and free flyleaves refreshed. The first issue, January 1879, is lacking the first leaf (pages 1/2); otherwise the volume appears complete. Pages 84–94 remain uncut, providing an interesting indication of the volume's original production.
