"Illustrated Library of Travel: The Lake Regions of Central Africa, with Map and Numerous Illustrations" by Bayard Taylor, published in New York by Charles Scribner's Sons in 1881. This illustrated volume presents an account of the lake regions of Central Africa, as part of the Illustrated Library of Travel series.

12mo (5" x 7.5"), 397 pp., in full army-green cloth with black-stamped vignettes depicting African scenes, along with gilt lettering and decoration to the upper board and spine. Illustrated with 30 plates, all accounted for. The binding has minor edgewear, lightly bumped and rubbed corners, and ruffling with tiny closed tears and small areas of color loss at the head and foot of the spine. The text block edges show some foxing, with light foxing on a few pages, while the interior is otherwise clean. The covers are protected in a Brodart cover.

Note regarding the map: Although the subtitle refers to a map, no map has been located in this copy, and available records do not clearly establish that a map was included in this particular edition. Otherwise, the volume is complete.
